Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Strength and Conditioning Centre? We are not a gym or a Personal Training Studio, we train our members in small groups and each session has a certified personal trainer with them. This means that you still get personalised attention, for a fraction of the cost of one-on-one personal training. You also get support from other members who share similar goals. Classes run every half hour starting from 6am and you book your sessions online.

Can I just do my own workout like at an ordinary gym? No, because we are not an ordinary gym! We have three main priorities in mind for you when you train with us: 1)your success, 2)your enjoyment and 3)your safety. Much or our equipment is far from ordinary. It's unique, a lot of fun to use, and gets serious results - if used correctly. We believe our clients get the most out of our equipment and programmes when they participate in our small group sessions lead by our highly-qualified personal trainers. They ensure your workout is safe as well as personalised to your ability and goals. In addition, the hard work of "planning" your workout is already done for you. All you have to do is turn up, and all you have to bring is your readiness to have a great time and work hard!

What are the benefits of group training? Much of the independent training that goes on in an ordinary gym can
become unrewarding, both in terms of enjoyment and results. As human beings we get stale, and our bodies stop responding if we stick to the same old routines. We promise to mix it up, to keep you entertained and will also continue to challenge your body to achieve your results.Working in our small groups will help you redefine and break through your own boundaries. In addition, working in a small group builds camaraderie and enthusiasm.

How can I get a good workout in just 30 minutes? Intensity! Thats all there is to it. If you are spending hours in the gym then you are just not working hard enough. Do you know how shocked our new members are when they are in and out in 30 minutes and have had a fantastic workout? They always remark "Obviously I was doing it all wrong before!"

Will I be in a class with members at the same level of fitness as me? We have different classes depending on your experience and fitness level, so after your initial consultation, your trainer will advise you which class you should join. Your first few sessions will be one-on-one, our trainers will show you how to use the equipment safely and coach you through the training program personally. Then when they feel you are ready, you will join in a class with other members.

I have been training at a Women's Fitness Centre but I am ready for the next step, is this it? Yes! You already have a base level of fitness. Our compound will give you the variety and the additional challenge that you now need.

Will I be forgotten about once I join? Each member is assigned one of our trainers to be their "accountability coach". Your coach will help you with your goals and check on you regularly. Each time you have a body assessment, your results will be monitored and adjustments to your diet or training made where ever needed.

Will I fit in? One of the reasons that many people dislike gyms is the impression that they are filled with sexily dressed models and bodybuilders all trying to find a date in between sets. Signature Strength and Conditioning Centre is the polar opposite of that. ALL kinds of people work out here and everyone is welcome. It's full of normal people doing their thing. Some are brand new to fitness, some are highly motivated athletes and most are somewhere in between.

Will I have to wait around to use the equipment? Never! Our classes are structured and planned so you will never have to wait to use any equipment.

What facilities do you have? Great staff, parking, innovative equipment, plenty of space, great atmosphere, loads of support, a kids corner, cardio room, change rooms and showers. However we don't have a cafe, gym bullies, aerobics, attitudes, lift music or excuses.

Can I spot train certain areas? Spot training implies that a certain exercise will get rid of the fat over a certain muscle. It is not true and does not exist. To remove fatty areas one must do two things. First, reduce overall body fat percentage. Second, improve muscle tone or mass of that specific muscle by strength training.

I am female, won’t I get too muscley using weights? Most women do not have the high levels of testosterone and HGH (human growth hormone) needed to dramatically increase lean muscle mass. By strength training you will be able to replace the muscle you have lost naturally since you turned 20. More muscle means a faster metabolism, faster fat burning and a slowdown of the ageing process. The masculine looking women you see in pictures are usually supplementing with illegal substances.

Can you help me with my diet? Some of our membership packages include a nutrition plan, nutritional education, weekly nutritional counselling sessions, unlimited email support and more. Our staff are always happy to answer any basic nutrition questions you may have.

How fast can I reach my goals? Forget those fat burner pill adverts you see in magazines with photo-shopped before and afters. Let's get real! Set achievable, realistic goals. 12 weeks to the body of your dreams? Well that all depends on how much work needs to be done. You can go from "average" to "awesome" in 12 weeks with our help, but if you have a very high body fat percentage or alot of weight to lose, you know it's going to take you longer than 12 weeks. Nutritional education and long term goals are the key to keeping it off for good.

What is a healthy body fat level? For males 10% to 20% and for females 15% to 25% Your body is made up of water, fat, protein, carbohydrate and various vitamins and minerals. If you have too much fat — especially if a lot of it is at your waist — you're at higher risk for such health problems as high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol and diabetes. That increases your risk for heart disease and stroke.

Will I have the same trainer each time? Research shows that having the same trainer each time you train, limits the variety of exercises you will do. Basically after a few months, your training gets repetitive and boring. So to keep the workouts fresh and interesting, you will be trained by different trainers, depending on your schedule.

Do you have “One on One” Personal Training? No, we are not a Personal Training Studio. Take note of most proffessional sports teams and athletes, they always train in a group! Group training gives our members more motivation and is much more fun!

How much does it cost?

We have many packages available, depending on what your individual goals are, what level of training you are at and if you need a nutrition plan included (most members do!) We’ve been servicing clients in the Shire for a number of years and are proud to be a locally owned and operated business. We are also one of the more expensive in the Shire. This is by choice. Poor service, poor staff and poor member results are all part of being a cheaply priced facility. This also means that our centre is not for everyone. If you are looking for results and you appreciate quality, then we’re for you. If price is your only factor, you won’t be happy with us. We really do feel we are the best and we’re worth it.

What happens if I change my mind after signing up? If you are not convinced that your training is worth every cent that you paid and you followed our program, let us know by the end of the first month and we will refund all of your money!
